Hi
Congratulations to this months winner with that waterfall its stunning and deserves to win.
During the voting process you state its only fair whilst voting that you cannot see the votes you are getting on your own submitted photo, which i think is a good idea, but is it possible that after the winner as been picked to see just how well one did on their own photo (through the votes that was given for the photo at the time), at least this way we can see where we need to apply ourselves to make things better to achieve the best possible photo for the next monthly challenge.

Yes you can

Kerry,

After the closure of each monthly contest the results can be seen giving each photographer an indication of how their entry performed. If you take a look in the sidebar towards the bottom you will see a section called Competition Results.

This lists the results for each contest in descending order with the the average vote and the number of votes for each images.

competition results

I have checked the competition results and as you state one can see from first to last how their photos did. Unfortunatley i cannot see my photo there in any position at all? I understand that during voting one cannot see their own photo which is very fair, but even though the competition is over my photo is still not showing?....was my picture removed? or not complying with the rules in any way?
I cannot understand how i can see everyone elses entries but by own?

Kerry

Kerry,

If your image does not show up in the competition results there is a good chance that it was removed. Despite all the warnings in the last couple of contests over 50% of competition entries were invalid. With the two most common problems being:

  • Invalid date - as indicated by EXIF
  • No EXIF data contained within image.

So, you may have noticed that the requirement for EXIF data has now been removed for competition entries. This is to try to reduce the number of invalid entries.

As for your specific image. I can only assume that it was one of the invalid entries. All the invalid entries have been removed permanently from the site.

I hope this doesn't discourage you from entering the current and future contests.

I understand what you say

I understand what you say about the invalid photos being removed, i actually checked that my photo complied with all the rules including the information you state of.....Invalid date - as indicated by EXIF
No EXIF data contained within image.
Also i made sure that it was a photo of the latest theme, so i know there was no reason for its removal, still there was much better photos than mine so was not expecting to get anywhere with it, its the fun of taking part and seeing how well or not so well the photo did that gives me the most pleasure and of course it will not deter me from entering this months competition...good luck to all who enters.
